Three GCI-incubated Canadian Teams Successfully Shortlisted for Jiaxing,China Innovation Talent Program

The comprehensive review for the Talent Incubation Projects was held at the Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University. Three Canadian teams incubated by GCI have stood out from 19 high-quality entrepreneurial talent projects and successfully secured a place in the final shortlist.

Different from previous years, this year’s project solicitation has expanded its scope beyond the Institute’s offshore incubators, covering offshore incubators independently built by county-level administrative regions or jointly established with third-party institutions. Affected by global pandemic-related arrangements, the review adopted a hybrid online-offline defense model. Tailored to the time zones of project applicants across different countries, the review organized real-time multi-party audio and video communication, enabling in-depth interaction between review experts and project representatives via online platforms.

The review panel consisted of seven distinguished experts, including university professors, institutional researchers, venture capital professionals and enterprise executives, who conducted professional evaluation and scoring for all participating projects. To facilitate the rapid and efficient local settlement of outstanding projects, institutional representatives from various districts and counties of Jiaxing also attended the review event on-site.

01. AES – Whole-column Imaging Capillary Isoelectric Focusing Technology

Founded in May 2010 and based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, AES specializes in providing world-class whole-column capillary electrophoresis technology, as well as supporting consumables and professional services. Leveraging 20 years of scientific research breakthroughs by its founder Dr. Tiemin Huang and a decade of dedicated productization efforts, the company has successfully commercialized its patented technologies. AES delivers a comprehensive portfolio of products and services to numerous medium and large biopharmaceutical clients, including whole-column imaging isoelectric focusing capillary electrophoresis (iCIEF) systems, whole-column imaging detection kits and supporting consumables. 02. SOC – Ultra-low Latency Video Compression and Decompression Chip

Spin-off from Professor Shaowen Song’s chip research laboratory at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, SOC Technology Inc. was founded in 2008 and has maintained stable physical operations in Canada. The company’s flagship products are high-end video encryption and decryption modules developed based on FPGA hardware and self-developed encryption and decryption technologies. With mature product performance, SOC has built a global customer base, serving clients across 25 countries including well-known enterprises such as Fujisoft. The core competitive advantages of its products lie in hardware-enabled ultra-low latency (0.25ms), low power consumption and small silicon footprint.

03. Arylla – Next-Generation Invisible Anti-counterfeiting QR Code

Arylla has developed an innovative invisible QR code solution applicable to all types of materials. Featuring permanent validity, the invisible QR codes can be directly scanned and identified via ordinary mobile phones. Printed with specially developed nanoparticle ink, the codes generate unique spectral signatures when illuminated by mobile phone flashlights. The technology supports serialized code printing, which can only be decoded and recognized through Arylla’s self-developed decryption API. Clients can leverage this API system for product anti-counterfeiting, customer service optimization and a wide range of value-added business services.
