Canadian Embassy Delegation Visits GCI Hangzhou Office to Strengthen China-Canada Sci-Tech and Trade Cooperation

Mr. Brian Shipley, First Secretary of the Embassy of Canada to China, together with Ms. Zhao Xiaojuan, Commercial Officer, led an official delegation to visit GCI’s Hangzhou office. The visit focused on in-depth exchanges regarding bilateral trade cooperation and intellectual property protection between Chinese and Canadian enterprises.

Yelai(Larry) Liu, Managing Partner of GCI, held extensive discussions with Mr. Shipley and the delegation team. Both sides reviewed GCI and Celtic House Asia Partners’ long-term achievements in facilitating China-Canada economic and trade collaboration, and exchanged in-depth views on intellectual property protection and other key issues in cross-border scientific and technological innovation cooperation. Detailed sharing was conducted on the development efforts and contributions of GCI’s portfolio companies, including O2 Canada, Peraso, Fantuan, Snappy, IOT Pay and Chuanteng Technology, in both China and Canada.

In addition, Larry Liu introduced to the delegation the supportive policies and incentive measures launched by governments at all levels in Zhejiang Province for overseas high-tech enterprises and innovative talents settling in the region, as well as local efforts in building a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Both parties expressed the willingness to take this visit as an important opportunity to further deepen China-Canada cooperation in science and technology innovation, advance bilateral collaborative development, and strengthen the flow of core innovation elements including talents, capital, technology and intellectual property protection. The two sides aim to pave the way for more outstanding Canadian enterprises to expand their presence in the Asian market.
